Zug Bug Nymph Fly Fishing Flies - Twelve Flies In Choice Of A Bead & Hook Size

This fly generally imitates a damselfly, caddis pupae/larvae, mayfly, water boatman, small green dragonfly numphs and probably many other natual trout foods. The attraction properties of the iridescent peacock herl is a well known fish catching material for many great flies. The Zug Bug is very effective in both rivers and lakes. In size 12, 14, and 16 this fly seems to imitate scuds and sowbugs so it works especially well in rivers, spring creeks and tailwaters when fished in the weeds and algae . Fish it slow with a strike indicator or in tandem with a large dry fly indicator like the Red Magic or Stimulator. (see our auctions for these other patterns) Most of the time you will need to get on the bottom, so I recommend fishing the Zug Bug as a dropper fly behind a larger weighted nymph tumbled right along the bottom.
