when Fly Fishing and you accidentally hook a trout in the tail, side, ect... what is the best thing to do?
i always have this problem when i fish with streamers i looked it up online and its apperently called a 'bump' the trout do it the stun the 'fish' for a couple seconds so they can catch it (in their mouths) easier and i always mistake it for a hit on the fly. so is it better to leave the fly in or cut the line?
just remove the hook with as little handling as possible. he'll be fine.
they bump it because they change their minds at the last instant. to them, something looks "fishy".
